| Abstract | Speech and character recognition are maturing technologies in the sense that they are ready to be turned into products. Such products are particularly meaningful to a Chinese society because of the unique non-alphabetic property of the Chinese language. These technologies are by no means perfect and the products cannot be expected to match the functions of a human being in terms of accuracy and speed. Nevertheless, they can be extremely convenient should the application fit the technology. |
