| Abstract | Hong Kong's economy performance throughout the period of final transition to sovereignty of the People's Republic of China will be devoid of trauma and characterised by stable, if unspectacular, growth by East Asian Standards. This has less to do with the political, economic and social aspects of the transition process itself than it does with the dramatic alteration in the structure of the territory's economy that has occurred in the decade and a half of China's "open door policy". |
