| Abstract | In the past two or three years, there have been signs of rising nationalism in China. To begin with, there is the media's constant evocation of Emperors Yan Di and Huang Di - two legendary rulers at the dawn of Chinese civilization - with an emphasis on the common ancestry of the Chinese. This certainly sounds a little odd to ears not accustomed to this style of official propaganda. |
