| Abstract | A popular Chinese adage translates as "In heaven there is Paradise, on earth there is Suzhou". This historic city, which dates back 2,500 years, lies 60 miles west of Shanghai in Jiangsu Province. Dubbed "the Venice of the East", Suzhou is renowned for the arresting beauty of its landscaped gardens and canals which weave their way across a city further enriched by a captivating architectural heritage. Suzhou Garden Villas, a residential community situated in the New District, a development zone to the west of the city centre but linked by the existing canal system as well as to new access roads is scheduled for final completion in 1997. |
