| Abstract | For generations, the simple Qagar villagers believed they were haunted by a ghost which brought illnesses. The villagers' teeth became tainted in their teens and dropped out when they reached their fifties. Many of them became lame because of back problems and swelling joints. In 1981, a group of scientists from Lhasa visited the village. After conducting tests, they found out the hot springs were the cause of the villagers' sufferings. |
