| Abstract | Shortly after the beginning of 1994, Western mass media were calling it the "European Year" for China's diplomacy. In the next half they renamed it the "Asian Year" for China's diplomacy. Although neither title is precise, they did reflect to a certain extent the important achievements China has made in pursuing an independent and peaceful foreign policy in an "all directions" way. It is believed that the achievements in foreign relations China made in 1994 will greatly help the country in its modernisation efforts and it may not be too much to hope for more accomplishments in the years to come. |
