| Abstract | The northeastern province of Liaoning used to be known as a museum of China's old factories. It is the home of one-tenth of the nation's large state-sector enterprises, but many of them were taken over from the wartime infrastructure of the Japanese-installed Manchukuo regime and are still operating machines made in the Showa period, from 1929. |
