| Abstract | State-owned retailers in China are losing out mainly because of their suicidal strategy. Long gone are the days when, as a kind of bureaucratic bloc, they dominated the mainland market - days when they should have been reinforcing their paramountcy by providing their customers with more diversified and better services. Their failure to more aggressively compete is, to be fair in part due to state-owned, light-industry manufacturers of consumer goods. |
