AbstractWith World Bank financing, ship unloading facilities at the port of Shanghai have been modernised to cope with expected grain imports of more than 3 million tonnes a year. The project was undertaken in 1995 by the Shnaghai Port Authority which commissioned the China International Tendering Company to invite bids for a high-capacity ship-unloading installation for the Minsheng Stevedoring Co in the Pudong District of Shanghai. The contract was awarded to the Swiss company, Buhler, which has supplied two of its Portalink HL-SKT ship unloaders.
