| Abstract | Fifteen million a day - that is Hong Kong's appetite for plastic bags. They amount to 600 tonnes of plastic and account for nearly 8 percent of the total municipal solid waste. They cost taxpayers $70 million a year for disposal, let alone the incalculable damage to natural habitats. It is time to evaluate the effectiveness of the Use Less Plastic Bags Campaign. |
