Abstract | A significant new trend is underway in engineering management as more companies shift from relying on themselves to sourcing services from outside agencies. Although out-sourcing may introduce better efficiency and more favourable financial returns, it may also bring along management problems. The most significant is that the quality of the outside service or product sometimes does not align with the mission and values of the corporation. In many cases, there are cultural differences between the service provider and the corporate client. This paper describes how to create a partnership relation between companies and outside service providers through the effective implementation of a quality plan. |
