| Abstract | Chinese film audiences have heard of Steven Spielberg's Oscar-winning film, Schindler's List, but few have actually seen it since the American film has not yet been distributed in China. Xie Jin, one of China's most established film artists, saw it in Hong Kong while on a business tour. During the three-hour screening, he was repeatedly "stunned" by scences that Spielberg has crafted out of historical fact. It was at that moment that Xie decided to make a Chinese version of Schindler's List to condemn Japanese atrocities in China during the Second World War. |
