| Abstract | China has strongly criticised a move by a number of United Nations members to "return" the nationalist regime on Taiwan to the world body. A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman issued a strongly-worded statement and the Chinese Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Li Zhaoxing, has written to the Secretary-General, Boutros Boutros-Ghali, stating China's position on the matter. |
