Abstract | The paper reports the observations of a group of social work teachers in Hong Kong to study Social Work courses in Britain. The professional training qualification in social work, namely, the Diploma in Social Work, and the features of the training programmes are introduced. A teaching and learning method, the Enquiry and Action Learning (EAL), is also described. The authors examine the strengths and merits of the single professional qualification system, the establishment of an offical professional body, and the use of EAL in social work education.
