AbstractHong Kong's professional engineers have worldwide recognition; China's engineering profession has largely developed independently which makes external recognition difficult. The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) embarkd on a series of Reciprocal Recognition Agreements with UK institutions in early 1992. In discussions with China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) and then with FESCAST in 1992, it was agreed that both the HKIE and FESCAST would jointly investigate the possibility of developing similar reciprocal recognition agreements and that a Joint Committee may formed in 1993 to facilite this.
