Article TitleAre referral letters informative enough?
Is Part OfHong Kong practitioner ; v.17, no.7, Jul 1995, p.323-324, +1p.
AbstractThis is a study of the adequacy of information, especially drug history, provided in referral letters received in Geriatric Specialist Outpatient Clinic. It was our general impression that referral letters received at our clinic were usually very cursorily written and lacked adequate medical information. It was especially frustrating when one could not elicit the exact drug history from our elderly patients as this could affect our subsequent management. To assess the extent of this problem, a prospective study was carried out to evaluate the quality of referral letters we received.
