AbstractChina, Hong Kong's biggest trading partner, faces painful reforms in 1996 that will cool off China's heated surge in exports. Hong Kong companies that export goods from thousands of processing plants in China will also be squeezed by rising labour costs. Chinese import growth, though, is likely to reverse its relatively sluggish performance to increase faster than exports.
