| Abstract | Speaking at a top-level engineering forum in London on February 2, 1996, environmentalist Ir Dr David Bellamy called on engineers to create sustainable environment by reengineering the entire world into 546 urban populations just like Shanghai. Dr Bellamy cited a Canadian study which had shown that people living in Shanghai consume 100 times less of the world's resources than those living in big cities like Vancouver. |
