| Abstract | A never failing source of entertainment is provided by corporate antics on the stock exchange. This week it was the turn of apple-cheeked entrepreneur Jimmy Lai and Giordano International, purveyors of cheap and cheerful apparel to the youthful. Investment house Crosby Capital Markets spent much of Tuesday night on the blower to London and New York selling Lai's 191 million shares in Giordano at a New Year discount price of $7.6 an item. Institutions rushed the offer. Early shoppers were promised free T-shirts, and the $1.45 billion sale was done in no time. |
