| Abstract | Whenever tension in cross-strait relations moves up a notch, one sees the shadow of Washington behind the sabre-rattling on both sides of the Taiwan Strait. It can be expected that such rattling will not diminish at least until after the island's presidential elections set for March 23. What will happen then is still hard to say. But Washington has no business casting its shadow on a situation which, strictly speaking, is supposed to be China's domestic affair. |
