| Abstract | Diamond Hill is an island of squalor saturated in the stench of refuse, car fumes, factories and the Kai Tak nullah. Its only claim to fame has been as Hong Kong's largest squatter settlement - until now. The tin huts are about to be demolished to make way for the Chi Lin Monastery, a huge Tang-replica Buddhist complex that will become an important international religious site on its completion in 1997. |
