| Abstract | The Legal Department's attempt to implement wide-ranging reforms to the legal profession suffered a serious setback when two of its major proposals were thrown out by the Executive Council. In an apparent siding with the Law Society and the Bar Association, which have condemned the two proposals, Exco rebuffed the government's moves to allow solicitors the right of audience at High Court and scrap lawyers' fixed-fee scale for property conveyancing. |
