Abstract | The skies over Asia are crowded with aeroplanes and are set to become even more so. For example, the Asia-Pacific region alone had some 1,650 commercial aircraft operating in 1995, according to estimates. And by 2015, an additional 2,480 will be needed - an average of 205 per year. Playing a major role in the expansion is China, where 16 Chinese airlines are looking for new planes and will need to finance their aircraft through a leasing structure. |
