| Abstract | The rise of Innovative's Chairman, Stephen Chang Lien Hing, reads like one of Hongkong's text book rags to riches success stories. As Richard Lum, Innovative's managing director recounts, Chang arrived in Hongkong from China in 1975, with little to show for himself but a Beijing University telecommunications degree, which although prestigious in China, carried little weight in the Territory. Chang spoke neither Cantonese nor English but Mandarin and, due to the close ties which existed between the world's largest communist states, Russian. |
