| Abstract | Overseas buyers of UK property are used to gearing their mortgage repayments to money market rates with a currency switching option. At the moment they are paying dearly for these schemes. Hong Kong banks certainly seem to take the lion's share of a very lucrative market without offering competitive terms. They rely on massive advertising and customer inertia once they are 'on the books'. |
