| Abstract | The State Planning Commission is busy drawing up China's 1996-2000 Ninth Five-Year Plan. The draft plan, say sources in Beijing, will be submitted to the Communist Party Central Committee's conference this summer. One theme of the plan is a stress on the development of the poorer inland and western frontier regions, so as to reduce regional econmic disparities or at least create the right conditions for closing the gap in the future. |
