AbstractCurrently trading at 8.425 yuan to the US$1, DBS forsees a rate of 7.8 to the dollar by the year's end. Ironically, the present rate represents only a 10 per cent appreciation, following a 33 per cent devaluation with the unification of the exchange rates for the yuan and Foreign Exchange Certificates on January 1, 1994.
