| Abstract | According to official statistics, 37 per cent of the 753 recorded suicides last year were people aged 60 years and above - a figure that legislator Dr John Tse says is inaccurate. "The figures are only the tip of the iceberg," he maintains. "It is a gross underestimation of the real figure because in calculating numbers they have discounted self-injury or so-called accidents - people who intend to die but ending up only injuring themselves. These are classified as àccidents'." |
