AbstractMost of the women tolerate their spouses' affairs because of financial and housing reasons, housing consideration, children's welfare and the stigma of divorce. The conventional social work approach tends to marginalize the problem into individual weakness rather than empowering them to handle the extramarital affairs as well as to tackle the reasons for women's toleration of spouses' affairs. Being inspired by the feminist thinking the problem is redefined into the problem of gender inequality. The first empowerment networking group for women whose spouses having affairs was established since December 1993 in a family service center. Through the collective sharing of similar experiences and causes of their emotional problems, they became their own representatives to speak about their difficulties and concern.
