| Abstract | This article addresses two of the broader trends affecting telecommunications strategies and opportunities in the Asia-pacific region. One is the rapid growth of inter-China trade: the increasing economic integration of capitalist Hongkong and Taiwan on the one hand and the socialist mainland on the other. The other is the political re-unification of Hongkong and China in 1997, and the thawing of relations between Taiwan and the Mainland. |
