AbstractAccording to Chinese folklore, dragons rule the seas. They also bring rain to the land so that animals and vegetation can flourish. The province of Heilongjiang shares its name with its biggest river - heilong means black dragon - whose tributaries run through most of its 454,000 sq km territory. The Heilongjiang is China's third longest and northernmost river and serves as a border with Russia.
