| Abstract | This project involves the demolition of an old ward and the construction of two, almost-identical, 3-storey blocks for the accommodation of 725 psychiatric patients in total. The building's architectural design is an attempt to break away from the massive, institutional countenance which is usually associated with such functions. Instead, a sense of scale and place is intended. The treatment of the facades and the detailing aims for rhythm and order of a more relaxed, homely nature. |
