| Abstract | Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen has reassured the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries that Beijing is "ready to solve the dispute (over Paracels, Spratlys and the other islands in South China Sea) through consultations." He said that China would act in accordance with international laws and work out a peaceful settlement with the five claimants of the islands. |
