| Abstract | The people's Liberation Army has begun scheduled 11-day missile and live artillery firing exercises in an area of the East China Sea, less than 140km north of Taiwan. Fighter planes and frigates have entered the area - a near parallelogram measuring about 2,700 square miles - and have commenced sea and air exercises, including guided missile tests and artillery firing, news agencies reported from Taipei, quoting defence authorities on the island. |
