| Abstract | Bank of East Asia surprised analysts with a 28.5 per cent boost in interim profits which it attributed to the expansion of its loan portfolio and a rise in trade bills. The bank reported earnings of $687.01 millon which included an exceptional gain of $36.6 millon on the sale of residential units in Kennedy Town. |
