Abstract | The day after Fortune's release of an article, "the death of Hong Kong", China and Britain announced they would work together to set up a local Court of Final Appeal on July 1, 1997. At an international business conference on 1997 held in Hong Kong, 97% of 150 corporate leaders surveyed believed the territory would remain a business powerhouse after the changeover, while 84% said they were optimistic about its future. Such unfolding realities are the most eloquent foils to the doomsayers. |
