| Abstract | In December 1994, the 100th hectare of land was formed, making the new airport site larger than Wanchai, Causeway Bay and Happy Valley combined. Included in the 100 hectares are sites for the first runway and the passenger terminal as well as commercial areas for cargo terminals, fuel tanks, air catering buildings and hotels - all key facilities for airport opening. To prepare for the next two years of intense activity, the Provisional Airport Authority (PAA) awarded in 1994 construction support contracts worth up to HK$1.12 billion. |
