Abstract | We are in the midst of a fundamental shift in technology change and information distribution. Like many encounters with the Information Age, this wasn't totally painless. Part of a staff member's day has to be dedicated to preparing the material, while our communications software had to be upgraded. But eventually the bugs were worked out and 60-plus pages of digitized news disappeared into a modem in the course of a few minutes. There it will form a miniscule part of the Internet, the sprawling entity composed of the ever-growing world of electronic data bases and each other. |
