| Abstract | Last year CASH (the Composers and Authors Society of Hongkong) collected $90 million from about 7,000 users. Half the fees came from television and radio broadcasters and cable diffusion. About 13-14 per cent is retained by the society. Roughly half the balance goes to music publishers and one quarter each to composers and lyricists. Ching says that while the society collects peanuts compared to ASCAP's billions, the percentage that goes to musicians matches the highest levels anywhere. |
