AbstractIt is interesting to note that last year's inflation is, apart from other factors, also attributed to what the Beijing officials have called "too much foreign investment." This applies especially to the case of the foreign direct investment (FDI). The coming session of the National People's Congress is expected to revise the nation's policy on foreign investment. Though it will hardly outlaw FDI, this will nevertheless be the first major revision since the beginning of the Open Door Policy. Dai Xianglong, vice-president of the People's Bank of China, recently explained that for every dollar of incoming investment, China had to issue an equal amount in renminbi.
