| Abstract | A severe rainstorm occurred in Hong Kong on 16 June 1993. Heavy rain first fell over eastern Hong Kong, and then over the whole territory. A daily total of 153 mm of rainfall was recorded at the Royal Observatory and the heaviest downpour was confined to a short 3-hour period from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. An account of the synoptic background during the event is given in this paper. |
