| Abstract | Re-expansion pulmonary oedema can be a fatal complication in the managment of pneumothorax. In this case report, a patient who developed this complication and hypotension shortly after intercostal drainage of a large pneumothorax is described. It is believed that re-expansion pulmonary oedema can be prevented by slower evacuation of pneumothorax. Theories as to the pathogenesis of this condition are discussed. |
