| Abstract | Is the Hong Kong workplace unsafe? It is, says Governor Chris Patten who has called for legislation to replace "the culture of carelessness which leads to accidents to a culture of safety." Statistics, however, indicate a declining trend in work accidents, although accidents in construction sites were up in 1993, and there is a conscious effort in the private sector to ensure that their employes are able to go home everyday. |
