| Abstract | The Consumer Council is considering expanding the scope of the recall section of the new Consumer Goods Safety Bill. The council is studying the possibility of requiring manufacturers of dangerous goods to compensate consumers by offering either refunds for the defective goods or replacement with safe alternatives. Another option would be to order these manufacturers to compensate buyers with coupons equal in value to the unsafe products sold. |
