| Abstract | Services sector is increasingly important to the Hong Kong economy. In l970, the sector contributed some 60 percent of the economy's GDP. By 1987, its contribution had increased to just under three-quarters. It's also the largest employer. In the first half of 1989, it employed three-fifths of the local workforce. |
