| Abstract | Hong Kong accounts for over 30% of Australia's annual business migrant intake and 14% (17,589 last year) of its global immigrants in all categories. In fact, total Asian migration in 1989-1990 represented 42% of all arrivals. These are significant numbers, yet the perception is that Australia's migration policy is discriminatory and that Asian migrants have a rough time being accepted by host communities down under. |
